The single most common question we get before checkout: "Will the Trail Cubby fit my 4Runner?" Fair question — nobody wants to unbox a steel cargo box and find out their trim is the odd one out. Here's the straight answer, year by year and trim by trim.
The Short Answer
The Trail Cubby is designed for the 2010–2024 5th Gen Toyota 4Runner — every model year of the generation. Toyota kept the rear cargo area essentially unchanged across the entire 15-year run, which is exactly why we built for this platform: one design, every year, no guesswork.
Fitment by Model Year
All 5th Gen model years use the same rear cargo trim panels the Trail Cubby mounts to:
- 2010–2013 (early 5th Gen, including Trail Edition) — fits
- 2014–2019 (facelift years, SR5 / TRD Off-Road / TRD Pro / Limited) — fits
- 2020–2024 (final run, including Venture and Nightshade) — fits
Fitment by Trim
SR5, SR5 Premium, Trail, Trail Premium, TRD Off-Road, TRD Off-Road Premium, TRD Pro, Venture, Nightshade, Limited — the cargo-area side panels are shared across trims, so trim level doesn't change fitment. KDSS, rear lockers, and suspension packages live under the truck, not in the cargo area, so they don't matter here either.
The one exception: the Trail Cubby does not fit 4Runners equipped with the optional factory third-row seat — the third row changes the rear cargo pockets. Two-row trucks only. Not sure which yours is? Message us and we'll confirm before you order.
Passenger, Driver, or Both?
The Trail Cubby comes in three configurations:
- Passenger-side Trail Cubby — the original, and the best place to start. Installs with four screws, lifts out tool-free.
- Driver-side Trail Cubby — same laser-cut steel, mirrored for the driver side.
- Complete Set (both sides) — both boxes, and you save versus buying them separately.

What About Installation?
